Is it a Cigar Ash Tray or a Spoon Rest?

If you are a mom, then this has probably happened to you. Your child brings home a heavy and yet fragile clay mystery creation. You guess it to be a paper weight and it turns out to be an ant eater, of course.
I was the beneficiary of one of these precious hand molded clay objects for Mothers Day and I admit, it was a visual challenge at first. This particular one was the size of a salad plate with two pinched areas. The pinched areas made the plate/bowl object resemble an oversized ash tray. The only problem with that scenario was that I dont think my son has ever seen an ash tray. However, grandpa has been know to occasionally smoke a cigar and the pinched areas were large, so I thought cigar ash tray??
Still not sure if it was a heart shaped plate, bowl, or ash tray, I decided to make it a spoon rest. To this day, my little Thomas has never questioned my usage. So, I either guessed right, or he just approved the idea. Either way, it was made with love and that is all that matters.
The extra bonus is that every time I use my spoon rest, I am reminded of how imperfect we are as humans and thank God that He loves and accepts us just as we are. I also know that I am a work in progress. I know that He is constantly molding me on the inside into what he wants me to become.
Thank you Lord for your grace that covers all the misshapen areas of our being
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

My kids are older now and they say "thanks for lying to us guys, we don't even know what it is! They love the fact that we still hold these gifts so dear. Love the Scripture to go along with your story. It is perfect. It's no secret that I love how practical the word of God is. Have a blessed day! Teresa
